Emery's Birthday Sprint

Help fund a preclinical experiment for a new procedure. This cell study will demonstrate safety and efficacy to unlock a human trial in which Emery may qualify.

We met our goal - We'll be back raising funds for the Cure Mito Foundation soon. In the meantime, please help Emery meet her $50k commitment to CHOC, who is actively growing FBXL4 samples to be used in a number of upcoming research projects:

Emery's Story

Despite many odds, Baby Emery is celebrating her FIRST birthday on May 29th, 2025. Please consider donating and wish her the best birthday in your donation comment 🎉

Emery is fighting a rare and aggressive form of Mitochondrial Disease called FBXL4. This disease is highly life-threatening, with many children of Emery's severity passing away in infancy. The disease is also progressive, and so the children who do live more years, continually decline in quality of life. FBXL4 is particularly debilitating to the brain. Her brain is dying and the Kline family may lose all that Baby Emery is going to be before she ever had the chance to show the world.

In 2024, Emery raised $50k for the Children's Hospital of Orange County Research Lab. That project yielded great success. The team will present a supplement which helps FBXL4 at the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation conference this June. That discovery may be why Emery is still alive and fighting today, but there is still work to be done.

Fund Details

The Cure Mito Foundation is sponsoring a study which will demonstrate a new form of mitochondrial treatment in-vitro (cell study). Emery's cells are included and, if her cells respond well, she may be the first child in the world to receive this groundbreaking treatment for Mitochondrial Disease.

This particular treatment could slow Emery's disease progression until a more targeted treatment (also in the works!) is ready for human trial.

The cell study funded by this sprint will be publicly announced later this year. Emery's parents will share details with donors. Please include your contact information! (No other spam).
